Dream holiday: Antalya, Turkey

Antalya, Turkey holiday travel guide by Bulgarian blogger Lina from Quite a LookerAntalya, Turkey holiday travel guide by Bulgarian blogger Lina from Quite a LookerIn July we chose to spend a week in the Turkish Riviera, namely in Antalya. Everything from the weather and nature to food and sights was amazing! We even had a small adventure renting a scooter and traveling around for a total of 300 km! Here’s what’s worth knowing of the region for a great quality holiday.

There are many places you could go to while on holiday in Antalya, but here is my shortlist. Definitely spend a day in Side, especially if you are interested in history. You will stumble upon the antique ruins of Cleopatra and Markus Antonius temple, a Roman theatre and Roman bath, the Agora. Try to be there at sunset as well, as the photos around that time are extra romantic! Further to the east is located the beautiful town of Alanya. Do not miss going to the Alanya castle up at night and seeing the night scenery. Then there’s nothing more casual than going to have coffee or wine at 12 pm. It’s when life on the Turkish coast starts because the temperature gets more pleasant for a nice chat.

If you are looking for a nice day at a quiet sandy beach, stop by the drives’ beach between Kızılot and Çenger. It’s peaceful, clean and very wild. We also went to Manavgat waterfalls that are super hyped and advertised for tourists but wouldn’t recommend it. The sight isn’t anything that impressive and the number of tourists could be stifling. While traveling stay on the lookout for the banana plantations, definitely buy fresh fruit and take some beautiful photos in front of the banana greenery.

So if you feel like having great tasty food, being in nature and exploring, Antalya has a lot to offer! Like visiting Turkey? Check out our Istanbul travel guide.
