Exploring the Baltics: Tallinn

Exploring the Baltics: Tallinn
A couple of weeks back I visited Tallinn, the capital of Estonia, which is conveniently located just across the Baltic sea, only 2,5 hours away from Helsinki by ferry. I was pleasantly surprised by how cute and cozy the Old town was, it reminded me so much of medieval stories and movies! Go ahead and see the photos below to see what I’m talking about! On the main square of the Old town, we witnessed a market of different cultures around Europe. People were dressed in their coutries’ traditional clothing and were selling all kinds of stuff – from food to furniture, but everything was hand- or homemade! And for all the chococholics out there- if you ever find yourself in Tallinn, do not miss the opportunity to go to the chocolate store Kalev!!! I felt like I was in heaven, all kinds of chocolate and candy for so cheap! And there were so many cute chocolate mini models like animals, people or toys, perfect for a souvenir or a present for everyone back home.
All in all, I had a great time in Tallinn, it was definitely a different experince and environment comapred to Helsinki. There’s plenty of things to see when you walk around, it’s quiet but at the same time tourists are everywhere. The rest of the city is pretty modern, there are a lot of shopping centers, so if you get bored you can always take a shopping break! The prices in restaurants, bars and shops are almost twice as low in comparison to Finland (or the rest of Scandinavian/Nordic countries), so you should be able to enjoy yourself if you’re on a budget. Unfortunaltely, I only stayed during the day, so I haven’t experienced the nightlife but I’ve heard that the parties are a lot of fun!
