Ich bin ein Berliner

I finally found the time to post some photos from my trip to Berlin last month. I wanted to see the city, plus a lot of my friends had told me that I would like it a lot – the culture, architecture, art, parties and whatnot. Well, they were definitely right! I’m going to share with you a few very chaotic but precious memories to me in the form of photos and a few tips which places were worth visiting.

Our stay lasted 5 days – we flew to Berlin on Friday evening (28 April) and came back on Wednesday evening (3 May), our main aim being to explore and feel the vibe of the city as well as to celebrate 1st May. We had a few locals as guides (some of my friends that have been living in Berlin for a few years now), so we were definitely in good hands!

Day 1 & 2: Mainly walking around the city, sightseening, being typical tourists. At the end of the day we were pretty tired but the wandering was definitely worth it. The city is super vibrant and it’s no mistake that it’s the bridge between Western and Eastern Europe. And I’m not talking only about the socialist architecture. The people were really diverse and you can basically see anything. Pretty cool, huh?

Day 3: 1 May! It was a blast! And I thought King’s Day in the Netherlands was a huge happening – parties, festivals, fun timeees. Berlin on the 1st of May, especially in Kreuzberg, is definitely a day to experience. A bit of an anarchy but it’s full of emotions and fun. Especially if you’re techno fans and enjoy festival culture and all things that come with it. Long story short, huge crowds everywhere, loud music from every corner, queueing for the toilet for 30mins, closed metro stations, police vans everywhere, beer and a lot of alcohol in general. I really cannot express this day with words that’s why I recommend experiencing it. Especially when you’re with good friends as it was in my case. The whole trip will be long remembered!

Day 4 & 5: Walks, food, rain, museums and back to Sofia. That was basically it. A cool brunch place, which is really hipster, meaning that you can take awesome photos but it’s pretty pricy – Distrikt Coffee.  I’m a big brunch fan, so I definitely enjoyed it. Another place that’s worth visiting if you’re into modern art – Hamburger Bahnhof. I found it a bit confusing to navigate around but we did manage eventually.
